It's week one. I have managed to complete three 30 minute runs. Well, I say run. I have run for 8 minutes. I have walked for 22 minutes. It was easy. Well, I say easy. Day one was hard on the hips but at least the dogs were happy to be out.
Day two was easy on the hips but hard on the ankles. I read somewhere that if you tighten your laces properly, from the bottom to the top, the hips do not get affected so much. Who knew? It worked. I say it worked. It actually transferred pain to my ankle. But my hip is pain free. Dogs still happy though.
Day three and I have the hips of a teenager. I have the ankle of a chair. Very painful today. Dogs can't believe their luck. I sent a text a good friend who had a "running scholarship to a prestigious American university" and runs daily. He's the same age. I say friend. He said "run through those first few weeks of aches".
So, week one complete. Pat on back. Only 8 weeks to go. Oh, did I mention that I loath running... I wonder if I will repeat that sentence in nine weeks.
